Monthly Jobs Summary Courtesy of Markit Economics
While January saw a slowdown in permanent appointments, following the strongest rise since 2010, growth is still occurring and vacancies continue to rise at the fastest rate since 1998.
However, the availability of staff to fill permanent job roles continues to fall.
Given the continued rise in permanent placements since March 2010, candidate availability seems at odds with this trend.
The only assumption I can make here is that good, strong and experienced candidates are out there, but not necessarily making themselves available as such, meaning fewer candidates are available for each job, but perhaps more of a fit.
So while the pool may be smaller the quality could be better.
Certainly Delta Consultants are finding much the same as the survey with a steep curve in vacancies alongside a smaller pool of experienced people commanding higher salary expectations.
So, while recruitment into 2014 remains a challenge the overall positives vibes coming from the market still point to 2014 being a year of opportunity.

"I'm registered with literally hundreds of agencies. I'd just like to comment that Delta are head and shoulders above the rest for the number and quality of positions that are brought to my attention. Keep up the good work"More Testimonials
